The Tales of a Chat, a Story and a Sloth: March's Snapchat Update

Snapchat launched Chat 2.0 taking one-on-one communication and video streaming to the next level. Now, you are able to chat back and forth by text; then, when your friend is active on the other end of the phone, you can instantly begin video chatting with the click of a button. If for some reason your friend is too busy to chat you can send them audio notes to get your message across. But, if you just cannot find the words are looking for, you can also send a sticker to say it best. The greatest part about the new Snapchat feature is how seamlessly they connect so it is effortless to utilize multi-way communication all in the same conversation.

Additionally, Snapchat created an auto advance feature that applies to all Snapchat stories. Now, when you watch a snap story the next one will automatically begin to play. You simply click to advance from story to story or swipe down to exit and watch them later. Snapchat has become nearly effortless making communicating with friends and customers pleasurable and convenient.

Video chat and live streams have taken over the industry and are quickly becoming the desired form of online communication. With Twitter’s release of the live video streaming app, Periscope, Facebook’s launch of Live on the mobile app, and Snapchat’s Chat 2.0 update, it is safe to safe live video is captivating the eyes of every audience. “Brands have already started experimenting with live video to preview big events, promote campaigns, show behind-the-scenes tours or educate viewers about a new product.” The consumer appreciates the video because it is more authentic and personal to see the speaker on the screen, which will make for a more receptive audience and effective marketing.

As with any social media update the backlash will be short and sweet (or sour). Soon people will become accustom to the changes and utilize the new features as they have for all of the updates in the past.

TBD where the sloth comes in to play...
